The Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation is currently looking to hire a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to fulfill a full-time position as our Empowering Women Project Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare correspondence congruent to Indigenous Healing and Wellness goals, objectives, and services that support and empower women and girls with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop networks and partnerships with internal and external organizations that work to address reducing violence within our community including a library of materials and resources.
  • Develop and/or provide education for members at risk and their families in collaboration with community workers on issues such as self-care, healthy lifestyles, assertiveness training, and self-esteem
  • Provide and or organize support and non-judgmental counseling.
  • Participate in case conferences with clients, families, other caregivers and organizations
  • Provide transportation for clients as necessary.
  • Networking and Referrals to both Traditional and Western helpers.
  • Plan and Implement activities that support Community Cultural Revitalization through community-based workshops, circles, recreational activities, traditional ceremonies, and activities on the land.
  • Provide accurate monthly statistical reports.
  • Report directly to Band Manager

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must maintain a healthy lifestyle including the respect for diversity and inclusiveness.
  • Ability to speak, understand the Ojibway Language, Culture and Traditions a definite asset
  • Good working knowledge and applied skills with various computer applications.
  • Education, Training, and or related work experience in Mental Health Field a definite asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and Drivers Abstract
  • Updated Vulnerable Sector check
