Pandemic Emergency Preparedness – Temporary Travel Restrictions Effective Immediately!
As of March 11, 2020, The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Covid 19 an International Pandemic and has affected over 100,000 cases globally in over 111 countries.
Effective immediately, Chief and Council has implemented travel restrictions in an effort to protect our community from Covid 19 Virus, which includes postponing and/or cancellation of attending or hosting large events in and outside the community.
In efforts to deal with the pandemic, we are in the process of updating and implementing the Community Pandemic Plan and Emergency Management Plan. Chief and Council/Staff are in constant communication with Regional Health Agencies, Municipalities, and Federal & Provincial Governments on information, health surveillance, and potential emergency funding. Information that we receive will be shared within the community and uploaded to the Website.
The primary concern is being able to protect our elderly and our citizens who have chronic health conditions and who may not be able to fight the COVID-19 effectively.
